More than the results

A career built on responsibility, respect and hard work

William Waldenlöv belongs to a generation of Swedish juniors ready to take the next step into international padel. His approach is defined by clear goals, hard training and a constant will to improve – both as a player and as a person.

On court William is smart, quick and patient. Off court he is calm, focused and independent. He shows respect for opponents, partners and referees, and keeps his focus even when a match does not go to plan.

The goal is clear: to establish himself further among the Swedish senior elite, where he is ranked no. 25 in the men's ranking and the highest ranked junior, and at the same time make the full step into Europe.

William's journey

From Örebro to an elite programme in Helsingborg

William started playing padel in 2018, having previously played football and tried several other sports. It did not take long before padel took over and everything else was put aside.

At the age of ten he began competing in the U14 class. Facing older players early on gave him experience, tougher challenges and an understanding of what it takes to keep developing.

During the first years William was mainly coached by his father Fredrik, and later also within the training environment at his home club Örebro Padel. That is where the foundation for his smart and flexible game was laid. Fredrik has always been, and will always be, at William's side. He still runs basket training now and then, handles filming and the YouTube streams, and is the ever-present driver to training and tournaments.

In the autumn of 2025 William took a decisive step. He moved to Helsingborg to combine the business studies programme at Filbornaskolan with the school's national elite padel programme (NIU). An adventure that involves far more than better padel.

A big responsibility at sixteen

The move meant more than a better training environment. In a completely new city William takes care of school, training, cooking, laundry and travel to tournaments himself. Few sixteen-year-olds carry that responsibility when they start upper secondary school, but William has handled it superbly.

The independence has developed him greatly on a personal level. At the same time, better sparring, more training opportunities and the proximity to the major padel environments in southern Sweden, Denmark and the rest of Europe have given the whole project new momentum.

William is primarily a forehand-side player, but handles both sides of the court at a high level. He has won several Swedish junior titles and represented Sweden at international championships on both the forehand and the backhand side.

That flexibility makes him easy to pair with different types of players. It has been particularly valuable in the national team, and in tournaments generally, since it opens up more partnerships. William has shown that he can build a working understanding with many different partners.

Game intelligence over raw power

William's greatest strengths are his speed and his defensive game. He reads the game well and understands where opponents are most vulnerable.

He does not rely on power alone. By varying pace, placement and rhythm he tries to make every situation as uncomfortable as possible for his opponents.

A partner who creates confidence

William communicates actively during play and works to create confidence on his side of the court. He supports his partner, motivates positively and tries to help the player next to him perform at their best.

He rarely shows frustration, does not argue with calls and stays focused even in tough matches. After a loss he keeps his head high and turns his attention to the next task.

National team and achievements

Playing for Sweden

William has represented Sweden at international championships since 2022. Repeated selections across several age groups reflect long-term development and an established position in Swedish junior padel.

His biggest international success so far is the World Championship silver in Paraguay in 2023. William played a leading role throughout the championship and won several decisive matches, including the semi-final against the host nation Paraguay – a match well worth revisiting, and of course available on William's YouTube channel.

Where he is today

Everyday life built for development

William studies the business programme at Filbornaskolan and combines his studies with the school's national elite sports programme (NIU) specialising in padel.

A normal week contains around four to five padel sessions and four physical training sessions, often followed by a tournament at the weekend.

William's head coach is Fredric Bengtsson at Ödåkra Padel. Fredric has an impressive coaching record and has developed several national team players. He also holds a national team role as head coach and leads the padel programme at Filbornaskolan.

The next step

Development requires international competition

The next step in William's development is to raise the pace of his game to a high international level and take on the fast, physical padel now emerging. That requires regular matches against strong international opponents.

The aim is to move from occasional international tournaments to a programme built around regular competition abroad, complemented by international training camps.

Tournaments and camps abroad offer a completely different tempo, a different kind of pressure and experiences that are hard to recreate through domestic play alone. At the same time, travel, accommodation, entry fees and training carry significant costs.

The Swedish senior elite and Europe – at the same time.

“My goal is to be among the very best in the Swedish senior elite while competing regularly against the best players in the world and winning internationally. I have already done it at junior level – now I want to take the next step at  senior level.” William Waldenlöv

Partnership

Become part of the journey

William is looking for companies or individuals who see the value in supporting a young Swedish player with clear goals, strong values and a long-term plan.

A partnership is about far more than placing a logo on a shirt. It is about creating a collaboration that delivers real value for both William and the partner.

What does your company want to achieve?

No two companies are alike. That is why William does not work with fixed sponsorship packages. Every collaboration starts with one simple question instead:

What do you, as a company, want to get out of the partnership?

It could be visibility, content, customer activities, employee engagement – or being associated with a young athlete who represents determination, responsibility and respect.

Together we build a relevant setup based on your goals and the part of William's development you would like to help make possible.
